The Blue Triangle Cement Kenya Homes Expo, which kicks off in Nairobi on Thursday, has attracted a host of global companies seeking to market their products to the country’s high net worth property investors.

The four-day biannual event that is now in its 22nd edition will take place from October 22-25 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

The event has attracted about 200 local and international exhibitors, including Chinese Avic International, Touchwood Furniture and Damac Properties – both from Dubai.

According to Daniel Ojijo, chief executive of Homes Universal, the firm that organises the Kenya Homes Expo, the exhibitors are drawn from real estate, finance, interior décor and design, building and construction industries.

“The expo gives individuals and corporates the opportunity to get perspectives, develop networks, strike business deals and make contacts,” he said.

Avic International, which is putting up a Sh10 billion mixed-use development in Westlands, Nairobi, will be looking to market its products to the 40,000 potential buyers who are expected to attend the expo.

On its part, Touchwood Furniture will be keen to attract the attention of Kenya’s middle-class home-owners who have acquired a refined taste for high quality interior furnishings.

Dubai-based real estate firm Damac Properties, which deals in the development and sale of high-end luxury properties, will be seeking to woo Kenya’s deep-pocketed investors into buying some of its Dubai homes.

The Kenya Homes Expo has over the years brought together progressive exhibitors offering products and services that meet the needs of the vibrant real estate industry.

The event has attracted endorsements, partnerships and sponsorships from organisations such as the East African Portland Cement Company — the manufacturers of Blue Triangle cement — and the Ministry of Housing, which has endorsed it.

The theme of the forthcoming expo is “Secure your Dreams”, which resonates with a huge number of Kenyans whose major dream is to own a home.
