Kenya to host first East African Housing Expo

Nairobi will host the first East African Housing Expo in September this year aimed at bringing together developers, financiers, interior designers and real estate agents.

Dubbed Umuhimu wa Makaazi Bora (Excellence in Quality Living), the East African Housing Expo – the first of its kind in East Africa – will offer the exhibitors the opportunity to interact face-to-face with their target market.

The event will be held at the Sarit Centre Exhibition Hall from September 8-11, 2011 – with Hass Consult, a leading real estate agent, being the main sponsors.

“The expo will enable exhibitors to interact with their target group, create a data-base of active and potential clients as well as serve as a marketing tool for them in a very cost-effective manner,” Phoenix Media Solutions Director Samson Kiteng’e said.

According to Kiteng’e, the expo seeks to empower players in the housing sector to deploy new technologies and tools in order to bridge the annual housing deficit of more than 300,000 units.

The East African region, said Kiteng’e, is a market with over 130 million people and a combined purchasing power parity (PPP) Gross Domestic Product of US$ 149 billion.

Key exhibitors in the 1st East African Housing Expo are Laxcon Hardwares Ltd., Crown Berger (K) Ltd., Hass Consult Ltd., AMS Properties and Span Structures.
